Introduction to Hallway Accident

Hallway Accident is the second room you‘ll encounter in Chapter 2 – Adrift in Space. Like the name suggests, you‘re trapped on a damaged spaceship after some kind of collision or accident.

The main goal is to find parts scattered around the ship to repair a broken drone robot, and then use it to clear obstructions blocking the exit door, allowing you to escape.

This room combines:

  • Finding and collecting hidden items
  • Assembling connectors to power up devices
  • Operating a machines to replicate missing drone parts
  • Repairing the drone with the replicated parts
  • Utilizing the drone‘s tools to remove debris
  • Decoding data on keycards to unlock doors

It provides an exciting mix of challenges in a crippled sci-fi spaceship setting. Meticulous observation skills are required to locate clues and items. You‘ll need logical thinking to assemble connectors and power sources in the correct order.

The drone repair and keycard decoding steps are more complex processes that test your concentration. With multiple steps involved, it can be easy to get stuck if you miss a detail.

This walkthrough will outline all the key steps and provide tips to help overcome the obstacles in this room. Follow along carefully!

Step 1 – Collect All Available Items

Your first objective is a thorough sweep of the area to collect all accessible items. These will be critical for progressing through the upcoming steps.

Open the Hidden Compartment

Start by clicking on the green thumbprint print next to the power switch on the right wall. This opens up a hidden compartment.

Inside, you‘ll find:

  • 2 panel remover tools
  • Drone repair recipe
  • Read/write keycard
  • Replicator instructions
  • Pin box

Be sure to collect all the items – you‘ll need them soon. The read/write keycard will come in handy later when decoding data.

Open Pin Box

Next, interact with the pin box in your inventory to open it. Inside are several connector pins you‘ll need to collect.

In total, you should have around 13 pins of various shapes and colors. These pins are required in the next step.

Remove Floor Panels

Use the panel removal tools from the compartment to pry open and remove the 6 large panels arranged on the floor around the room.

When you lift a panel, make sure to move it completely out of the way and place it against the wall. This clears space to work.

Beneath each panel are more connector pins to collect. Be sure to pick them all up – you‘ll need a total of 18 pins for the upcoming power connection step.

Step 2 – Connect the Power Sources

Now that you‘ve collected all available pins and opened up the floor space, it‘s time to create a connected power pathway from the wall switch to the replicator machine.

Turn Off Power First

Start by opening up the panel on the power switch on the right wall. Flip the switch inside to the OFF position.

Important: Always turn OFF power before making connections! Failing to turn off the switch first will electrocute you when trying to insert pins.

Connect Pins from Source to Destination

With power disabled, look under the switch for a small square connector slot. Place one of your metal pins in this first slot to initiate the connection.

Next, lay down connector pins in a path from the switch, through each of the floor slots, leading all the way to the replicator machine on the opposite side of the room.

You may need to rotate the angle of some pins to fit the pathway. All 18 pins should be used up after the last connection into the replicator.

Restore Power

Once all pins are positioned in an unbroken link between the switch and replicator, flip the switch back to ON to restore power.

The replicator should now light up with power successfully flowing through your completed circuit.

Step 3 – Collect and Insert Metals

With the replicator powered on, it‘s time to collect raw materials that will be used to create missing drone parts.

Gather Metal Pieces

On the left side of the room is a closed hatch door. Open it up by clicking the handle.

Inside is a corridor with some rubble on the floor. Look closely and you‘ll find an assortment of metal rods, blocks, plates and pins scattered around. Make sure to pick up all of them – I counted around 12 separate metal pieces.

There is also another drone repair recipe in here, which you should grab. This will be used soon.

Insert Metals into Replicator

Carry all the gathered metal pieces over to the replicator machine. Open up the hatch labeled "Insert Metal" and place all the metals into the chamber one by one.

This provides the raw materials the replicator will use to fabricate the drone parts based on encoded recipes.

Step 4 – Replicate the Drone Cone Part

With metals loaded, it‘s time to activate the replicator to build the first component needed to repair the damaged drone.

Select the Cone Recipe

Check your inventory for the drone recipe picked up earlier, labeled "Drone Cone". It will look like this:

Drone Cone Recipe

This graphic illustrates that you need:

  • 8 blue square pieces
  • 1 black square center piece

So keep this recipe handy for reference.

Build the Cone

Interact with the replicator control panel. It has selections for different colored squares along the top.

Press blue, then black, then blue again.

Enter "4" for the first amount, "1" for second, and "4" for the third.

Finally hit Start to initiate replication. The machine will construct an 8-blue sided cone with black center based on your inputs matching the recipe.

Collect the Cone

Once fabrication completes, open the replicator hatch to collect the newly created Drone Cone piece.

This cone will attach to the bottom of the drone during assembly.

Step 5 – Replicate the Drone Thruster

Now you‘ll follow similar steps to replicate the second component needed – the drone thruster part.

Select the Thruster Recipe

Check your inventory again for the "Drone Thruster" recipe. It will look like:

Drone Thruster Recipe

Based on this, you require:

  • 1 black square
  • 1 white + black square (repeating pattern)

Build the Thruster

At the replicator control panel, press black, then white + black, then black again to set the materials.

Input "1" for the first, "8" for the repeating white/black, and "1" again.

Start the replication to construct the thruster part.

Collect the Thruster

Open the output hatch and take the completed Drone Thruster piece.

This will attach to the front of the drone in the next step.

Step 6 – Assemble the Repaired Drone

Now that you have the required cone and thruster components, it‘s time to fix the broken drone.

Inspect Drone Damage

Open your inventory and select the Drone item. This will bring up an inspection view.

Examine the drone closely to identify the damage. The bottom cone section is missing entirely. The front thruster attachment is also broken off.

These are the parts you just replicated to repair.

Attach Cone and Thruster

With the drone inspection still open, take the Drone Cone piece and place it at the bottom where the missing cone should be.

Next, take the Drone Thruster and attach it to the front of the drone, lined up properly.

The drone is now repaired with both damaged sections restored!

Step 7 – Laser Open the Blocked Door

After fixing the drone, it‘s time to put it to use clearing a blocked door.

Position Drone to Face Debris

On the left side of the room is a large pile of rubble blocking the exit door.

Take the repaired drone from your inventory and set it on the ground facing the debris, within laser range.

Switch Drone to Rotation Mode

The drone has two main modes – position and rotation. For precision aiming, you first need to activate rotation mode.

Interact with the drone interface and click the rotation icon so it turns blue. This enables you to adjust the horizontal angle.

Rotate Drone to Face Doorway

While in rotation mode, click and drag left/right to rotate the drone and point it directly at the center of the blocked doorway.

Position the drone so its facing is optimal for clearing the obstructing wall pieces.

Activate Laser

Once rotated into place, toggle the drone back to position mode so it stays locked in the aimed direction.

Then click the new laser icon to equip and power up the cutting laser.

A red beam will appear – this allows you to start slicing through the obstacles.

Cut Through Debris

Carefully aim the drone‘s laser and hold down the mouse button to begin slowly cutting through the rubble blocking access to the door.

Methodically slice off and disintegrate each of the protruding wall pieces until the exit door is completely clear and accessible again!

Step 8 – Decipher the Damaged Keycards

With the exit unblocked, the final challenge is hacking the locked door by deciphering data on two damaged keycards.

Locate Both Keycards

Search the room to find 2 different fractured keycards – one is on the floor near the starting power switch.

The second damaged keycard can be found on the ground next to the now-cleared doorway.

Insert Each Keycard into Reader

Take each damaged keycard and insert them one at a time into the card reader slot on the right wall.

When inserted, the reader will display a sequence of colored numbers for that card.

Carefully study and memorize the number sequence for each keycard after scanning them.

Match Keycard Data to Unlock

On the keycard reader is also a red colored "Access Keycard". This will unlock the door, but first you need to set it to match the data patterns from the damaged cards.

The goal is to replicate the number sequences by tapping the red access card reader. Match it to Card 1, then Card 2.

For example, if Card 1 showed "1, 7, 4, 2" and Card 2 showed "6, 3, 0, 8", you would tap those patterns out on the Access Keycard reader to unlock it.

Use Unlocked Card on Exit Scanner

After matching the data, take the now-unlocked red access keycard and insert it into the thumbprint scanner beside the exit door.

Finally, press your thumb to the scanner button to verify and officially unlock the door!

Congratulations, You Escaped!

If you followed all those steps carefully, the door should now open allowing you to escape from the crippled Hallway Accident spaceship!

The key to success was:

  • Meticulous searching for items
  • Assembling connectors properly to power machines
  • Using the replicator to rebuild damaged drone parts
  • Attaching the right parts to repair the drone
  • Employing the drone‘s laser to carefully clear blocked doors
  • Decoding data from keycards to unlock the exit

As you can see, this room tests a wide variety of puzzle solving skills. But by applying logical thinking and following this guide, you should be able to overcome the obstacles in Hallway Accident.
