I‘m sure you‘ve ventured into the massive new Sumeru region added in Version 3.6 and met all kinds of interesting characters and puzzles. Well, one NPC named Mihir needs our help! She‘s trapped behind an odd purple mist barrier and we need to find a way to disperse it to continue her questline.
In this complete walkthrough, I‘ll show you exactly how to clear that mist using the new Dendro character Sorush‘s abilities. We‘ll also take down the enemies hiding inside it to really impress Mihir!
There‘s a beautiful magical rainforest waiting for us, so let‘s jump in!
About Mihir, Sorush and the Alluring Sumeru Region
Before we dive in, let me give you some backstory. Mihir is a bright, devoted researcher studying the mysteries of Sumeru‘s magical forest. She gets stumped by an eerie purple mist that springs up and blocks her path.
That‘s where we come in! By utilizing the Dendro powers of the brand new character Sorush, we can help disperse the mist and save Mihir from her predicament.
Sorush is a stylish 5-star who wields a rapier and excels at Dendro damage. His Elemental Skill called Nomadic Sapwood creates special climbing vines we can use to cross the mist.
Sumeru itself is the lush new addition to the world of Teyvat in Version 3.6. There are new characters like the scholarly Cyno, domains to get Dendro artifact sets, and unique reaction combos using the new Dendro element.
Our goal today is to explore a tiny piece of the massive rainforest, help Mihir continue her work, and have fun with Sorush‘s abilities!
Locating Mihir and the Troublesome Mist
First things first, we need to track down where exactly Mihir is stationed. After the new update, you can find her around some giant trees in Vimara Village, located in the southeast section of the Sumeru map.
Specifically, go to the waypoint at these coordinates:
X: 3518
Y: 2649
Look for the Researcher Mihir NPC model hanging around the base of the big tree. Interact with her to get a conversation scene that will trigger the mist barrier appearing.
Here‘s what the mist circle looks like from above:
[Insert aerial screenshot of mist circle]See the way it blocks off access deeper into the forest? There are also some shadowy enemies lurking inside that we‘ll need to take care of.
Our goal is to remove that troublesome mist entirely and open up the way forward again!
Harnessing Sorush‘s Dendro Powers
Now comes the fun part of actually utilizing Sorush‘s abilities to start dispersing the mist.
First and foremost, you need to have Sorush unlocked and in your active party. If you don‘t have him yet, be sure to wish on his debut banner! He‘s a capable Dendro damage-dealer with some flashy skills.
Once Sorush is deployed, here are the steps:
-
Switch over to Sorush using the party menu.
-
Fly up into the air above the mist circle, until you‘re near the tips of the thorny branches sticking out of it.
-
Activate Sorush‘s Elemental Skill, Nomadic Sapwood. This will spawn climbable, glowing green branches extending from the misty vines below you.
-
While staying inside the mist, climb onto the new Dendro branches.
-
When prompted, press the Elemental Skill button again to destroy the branches.
This destruction will dissipate some of the mist, revealing the enemies beneath!
Here‘s what it looks like when the branches explode:
[Insert GIF of Sorush destroying branches]Pretty cool, right? Now we just need to actually defeat those enemies while the mist is cleared.
Entering the Mist and Taking Down Enemies
With Sorush‘s branches exploding, the mist will be partially dispersed and you can see the shadowy monsters underneath.
Quickly swap back to your main DPS character and drop down into the mist to engage the enemies. I recommend a strong ranged Pyro character like Yoimiya or Yanfei to stay safe.
Defeating all the enemies inside will clear away the remaining mist for good. I suggest bursting them down quickly with your strongest attacks before the mist can close back up again.
Some tips:
-
Use Pulsing Shots from a powerful bow user like Ganyu to hit them from a distance.
-
Swirl the enemies together with an Anemo character before unloading huge Pyro damage.
-
Equip Dendro-shredding artifacts on an off-field support like Xingqiu.
Once the enemies are eliminated, the mist will fully dissipate into nothingness!
Returning to Mihir and Completing the Quest
With the pesky mist finally dispersed completely, we‘re now free to continue forward and find Mihir again.
Walk ahead past where the mist barrier originally was until you arrive back at the giant tree. Interact with Mihir once more to trigger a conversation and cutscene.
After the cutscene, Mihir is extremely grateful that we cleared the way and saved her from that dead-end. She gives us some rewards and asks us to meet again at the Ultsava Festival.
That means we successfully completed this quest and unlocked the next part of Mihir‘s storyline! Pretty satisfying for just a few minutes of fun gameplay.
Potential Rewards and Follow-Up from Mihir
Helping researchers like Mihir explore Sumeru‘s secrets is very worthwhile. Besides the initial Primogems, here are some other perks you can unlock by continuing Mihir‘s questline:
- Valuable crafting materials like Fungal Spores
- Sumeru reputation increases
- The recipe for concentrated Dendro shots
- Hidden achievements
- Access to special Sumeru lore and backstory
I highly recommend keeping up with Mihir‘s adventures even after dispersing the mist. Her Aranyaka mythos quests will take you to meet the sages of Vanarana and deep into the rainforest.
Plus you get to learn more about Mihir‘s bright, earnest personality as she follows her dreams. She‘s a great example of Sumeru‘s focus on scholarly pursuits.
In Summary
That covers the full process of utilizing Sorush‘s Dendro abilities to disperse the mist and save Mihir in the new Genshin Impact region. Here are the key steps:
- Locate Mihir and interact to spawn the mist
- Switch to Sorush and use his skill to create climbable branches
- Climb the branches inside the mist, then destroy them
- Defeat the exposed enemies inside to fully disperse mist
- Talk to Mihir again to finish the quest
With the awesome powers of Dendro on our side, we cleared away that barrier in no time! Let me know if you have any other questions. I‘m always happy to help travelers explore every corner of Teyvat.
