Overview – Braving the Bunkers to Reach the Plant

Let‘s get right to it: investigating the chemical treatment plant in DMZ requires closing a series of security doors and bunkers to block off deadly gas before you can enter. I‘ll walk you through step-by-step:

  • Infiltrating the massive Koschei Complex bunker system
  • Locating and activating door control panels sector by sector
  • Manually cranking any jammed wheel hatches shut
  • Equipping NVGs to navigate the pitch-black plant
  • Searching for clues and intel within the hazardous facility
  • Finding an extraction point to escape safely with your discoveries

It‘s a dangerous mission – but the loot and secrets waiting within make it more than worth the risk. Follow my guide carefully and you CAN survive!

The Legendary Koschei Complex

To understand why this hidden plant is so important, you need some background on the Koschei Complex itself.

In Slavic folk tales, Koschei is an evil immortal who could only be killed by destroying his soul hidden separate from his body. The bunker‘s name implies it holds dark secrets and forbidden knowledge.

It was constructed in absolute secrecy below the deserts of Al Mazrah. Officially, it doesn‘t even exist! Based on clues, the complex likely dates back to the Cold War era.

Its purpose? Almost certainly chemical weapons research and production. And not just any chemicals – we‘re talking deadly nerve agents.

This is no regular industrial plant. Entire sectors are dedicated to hazardous materials research well beyond normal pharmaceuticals.

By The Numbers: The Massive Scale of the Bunker Complex

To give you a sense of just how enormous this facility is, here are some key stats:

  • 4 different entrances spaced kilometers apart across the map
  • 8+ individual bunkers need to be traversed and sealed
  • 12+ button panels to locate and activate for door control
  • 30-40 separate rooms spanning offices, labs, tunnels, and storage areas
  • 200,000+ square feet of floorspace
  • 2,000+ meters of interconnected corridors and passageways

This is easily one of the most expansive playspaces ever added to Warzone. Just reaching the plant entrance alone will likely take 15+ minutes!

Step 1 – Infiltrating the Complex Safely

First, you need to pick one of the four complex entrances and battle your way inside:

Entrance Difficulty Recommendation
Sawmill Easy Best for new players
Mines Medium More enemies than Sawmill
Taraq Hard Longer ingress, more resistance
Observatory Expert Isolated area, many elites

I‘d suggest Sawmill or Mines when starting out. Taraq and Observatory are great when you‘re already stacked for a challenge.

Regardless of entrance, move slowly room to room. Check your corners and watch the ceiling too – enemies can drop down from ventilation shafts.

Loot any weapons, equipment and cash you can early on. This will set you up to better handle the bunker defenses. Having a suppressor helps avoid drawing unwanted attention.

Don‘t ignore common loot either. Even basic guns like a P890 or MP5 give you a fighting chance if caught off guard.

Step 2 – Sealing the First Set of Security Doors

After battling through the initial bunkers, you‘ll reach a large room with an imposing wall covered in buttons and displays. This is your first chance to cut off deadly gas.

Check each button on the panels closely. Many will be broken and do nothing. Trigger every functional button to select "Close Bunker Door" on the display.

For doors with broken controls, we‘ll have to come back and close them manually later. For now, focus on sealing what you can via the working buttons.

With enough buttons activated, you‘ve now blocked gas and access to a major section of the complex. But plenty more doors need sealing…

Step 3 – Cranking the Manual Wheels in Bunker 2

Fight your way through more winding tunnels until you reach the second large bunker area. This two-level maze will be guarded by armored enemies.

Sweep each room and use explosives or FMJ ammo to punch through helmets and armor. A shotgun absolutely shreds up close – equip one if you see a chance for an ambush.

Once clear, seek out the second set of button panels. Tap each working button to continue isolating the bunker. But as expected, many wheel hatches here are jammed.

Approach each stuck wheel and interact with it to slowly crank the massive hatch shut manually. I suggest an LMG or fast SMG to smash the wheels free if needed.

With teamwork, you can split up to each seal a hatch for 2X faster progress. But stay aware – more troops may drop in to try and stop you.

Step 4 – Breaching and Clearing Bunker 3 Button Rooms

The last set of security doors are located deep in the 3rd major bunker area. Expect even heavier infantry resistance trying to block your progress.

I highly recommend a breaching charge or two to force your way through barricaded doors and instantly clear rooms of 8+ enemies.

Whenever possible, breach into a space and immediately gun down staggered foes before they can react. Rinse and repeat to systematically take ground.

After eliminating the troops, seek out the final button panels. Carefully check each button, turning any manual wheels that are jammed. We‘re so close now!

Step 5 – Donning Your NVGs for the Blackout

With all security doors sealed, you‘ve cut off the deadly gas and can finally access the chemical plant entrance. But it‘s pitch black inside!

This is why night vision goggles are mandatory for this mission. Equip your NVGs before breaching the plant so you can actually see.

The green night vision lens will illuminate everything in an eerie glow. You can easily sweep for enemies and intel wearing your goggles.

NVGs are incredibly rare, so don‘t forget to loot any you find during extraction for future runs. Even one pair makes a massive difference in survival rate.

Step 6 – Breaching the Final Door to the Plant

We‘re in the home stretch now. Approach the final armored bunker door. Interact with the control panel to slowly raise the massive hatch.

Breaching inside, you‘ll finally behold the chemical plant in all its foreboding glory. Vats of unknown substances bubble and enormous centrifuges whirl.

Have your whole squad breach simultaneously to catch any defenders off guard. Quickly mop up resistance so you can begin investigating in peace.

Breaching the plant entrance

Infiltrating the plant is a key milestone, but don‘t relax – dangers still lurk within

Uncovering the Plant‘s Sinister Purpose

Your objective isn‘t just to reach the plant – it‘s to find clues and intel on why it was built and by who. Here are key items of interest:

  • Research terminal records – Hack these to download chemical experiments
  • Server room – Breach and download data for analysis
  • Offices – Check desks and cabinets for hidden notes
  • Chemical samples – Extract these in your backpack to identify later

Based on clues so far, this plant almost certainly relates to the Al Qatala bio-weapons program. Records may help uncover their buyers, sellers, and sinister plans.

Escape and Extraction

You‘ve got what you came for, now it‘s time to get out with your life. Move room to room being alert for stragglers. Locate one of the extraction icons and activate it.

Defend your position from any last-ditch ambush until your helicopter arrives. Popping smoke can help conceal your extraction from a distance.

Once aboard, breathe a sigh of relief! You‘ve joined the few who have uncovered the truth behind this complex and escaped to tell the tale.

Here are the weapons and perks I suggest equipping for a successful plant investigation:

Primary FTAC Recon (NVG compatability)
Secondary FSS Hurricane (high capacity)
Lethal Drill Charge (breaching)
Tactical Flash Grenade (clearing rooms)
Perk 1 Recon (wallhacks)
Perk 2 Tracker (see footsteps)

Prioritize NVG-capable weapons first and foremost. A recon perk gives you wallhacks to avoid ambushes. And breaching charges/flashbangs are perfect for room clearing.

With this loadout, you‘ll have both the gear and awareness to take on the bunkers and plant. See my Twitch channel for gameplay examples!

The Secret History Hidden Within

If one thing is clear from clues in the plant, it‘s that the Koschei Complex has a dark history that powerful forces want kept hidden forever.

Who commissioned its construction? Which global powers were involved? How did Al Qatala eventually gain control? All mysteries that intel from within may help unravel.

mwister Perhaps [redacted] or [redacted] had a hand in the complex based on records. One day, we may expose whoever is truly responsible!

You Can Do This!

That covers everything you need to safely investigate the chemical treatment plant in DMZ. It represents the pinnacle of challenge in Warzone 2 right now.

But with preparation, tactics, and a little luck – victory is achievable! I believe in you.

Now get out there, forge the perfect loadout, and breach those bunkers. The secrets of the Koschei Complex await any brave enough to try. I‘ll see you online!
