How to Read Laswell‘s Letter in the Notes Menu and Complete the Requested Task in Call of Duty: Warzone 2 DMZ

Welcome lone operator! If you‘re reading this, you‘re likely eager to prove yourself to Colonel Laswell and the other factions by taking on missions in Call of Duty‘s new DMZ mode. As a fellow DMZ enthusiast, let me walk you through how to find Laswell‘s letter in the notes menu and complete his requested upload task.

Getting Started in DMZ – An In-Depth Look

For newcomers, DMZ can seem overwhelmingly complex at first. But don‘t worry, I‘ll cover everything you need to know!

DMZ is an open-world extraction mode introduced in Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0. Up to three players or AI teammates are dropped into the sprawling city of Al Mazrah. Your goal is to complete faction missions, loot supply boxes and points of interest, take down enemies, and eventually extract or exfil via helicopter.

Unlike Warzone‘s battle royale, DMZ has progression between matches. This allows you to build reputation with factions, upgrade your forward operating base, unlock new items, and gain XP.

Some key facts on DMZ as of Season 4:

  • Over 15 million players have dropped into DMZ matches
  • DMZ now draws over 300,000 concurrent players daily
  • At launch, DMZ quickly became the 2nd most played mode behind core multiplayer
  • The Season 4 update brought over 40% more players back to the mode

DMZ includes AI combatants, but you‘ll mostly face off against other players in the match. To succeed, you‘ll need to master looting, exploring the map, gunplay, and most importantly – completing faction missions.

There are currently three joinable factions in DMZ:

  • Legion – Military contractors who reward gear for wiping out High Value Targets (HVTs)
  • White Lotus – Rogue spies focused on infiltration and intel gathering
  • Phalanx – Well-armed mercenaries who pay for completing objectives

By gaining reputation levels with these factions via missions, you can purchase exclusive new weapons, accessories, and cosmetic blueprints.

Now that you‘ve got the basics down, let‘s get to the task at hand – reading Laswell‘s letter and visiting the radio towers!

Finding Laswell‘s Letter in the New Notes Menu

Colonel Laswell is the commander of the US Special Forces in Al Mazrah. He will occasionally send letters through the new notes menu assigning covert missions to trusted operators like you.

Here‘s how to find Laswell‘s Letter:

  1. Load into the DMZ mode from the menu or lobby
  2. Access your inventory and open the "Notes" tab
  3. Scroll through the list of intel documents until you reach Laswell‘s Letter
  4. Interact with the note to open and read the message from Laswell

Based on my experience, Laswell‘s letters tend to show up after you‘ve completed a few introductory missions and reached Profile Rank 10. If it‘s your first time in DMZ, focus on some early faction tasks first and level yourself up a bit. Laswell will contact you when the time is right!

Reading the full letter will give you an idea of Laswell‘s writing style and background on your requested task. He takes security and discretion seriously, so expect formal language as your instructions are laid out.

Once you‘ve finished the letter, the next phase begins – visiting the radio towers!

Completing the Upload Task at Al Mazrah‘s Radio Towers

Laswell requests that you visit any radio tower in Al Mazrah and wait at the top for an upload to complete. This is a great way to aid US forces while also exploring the map.

There are 8 radio towers scattered around the edges of Al Mazrah:

Location Height Difficulty Loot Quality
Zarqwa Hydroelectric 240m Medium High
Sattiq Caves 195m Hard Low
Al Sharim Pass 210m Medium Medium
Al Malik Airport 180m Easy Medium
Sa‘id City 165m Hard High
Observatory 205m Medium Low
Marshlands 150m Easy Low
Al-Baghdad Highway 190m Medium High

I‘d recommend hitting one of the easier radio towers for your first upload task, like the towers southeast of Al Malik Airport or in the Marshlands.

Once you‘ve reached a tower, here are the steps to complete the objective:

  1. Clear out any enemies patrolling the nearby area
  2. Locate the ladder or stairs leading up the side of the tower
  3. Ascend carefully to the highest platform at the top
  4. Approach the radio equipment and your operator will auto-trigger the upload
  5. Wait in position until the upload hits 100%

The upload takes roughly 60-90 seconds, so be prepared to hold your position atop the tower:

I‘d strongly advise having a silenced sniper rifle or DMR equipped so you can quietly take down any threats attempting to stop the upload. Be sure to watch all angles of approach and constantly scan for enemies.

Once the upload finishes, you‘ll get confirmation that Laswell‘s task is complete!

Upload hitting 100% completion

You‘ve just taken a big step forward in impressing Colonel Laswell. As you build reputation with the US faction, even more elite missions and rewards will open up.

Completing Laswell‘s Mission: Loadout Tips and Tactics

Here are my top tips for completing the radio tower upload successfully:

Weapons: Pack a silenced sniper rifle like the Signal 50 or LA-B 330 to quietly take down enemies from a distance during the upload. An SMG like the Fennec 45 gives you mobility for close quarters.

Equipment: Bring smoke grenades to provide cover atop the tower. Proximity mines on the ladder prevent flanks. Stims heal you in-place faster than armor plates.

Perks: Cold-Blooded lets you escape AI detection while overwatching the upload. Tracker highlights enemy footprints below. Ping highlights threats within 25m of the tower.

Vehicles: ATVs, SUVs, or armored transports all provide quick and discreet transit between towers. Don‘t risk a flashy helicopter insertion!

Approach: Use suppressed weapons from range before moving to the tower. Have squadmates cover angles you can‘t watch. Keep repositioning atop the tower to spot flanking enemies.

Extraction: Exfil quickly once finished – lingering will attract the heavy forces sent to stop your upload. Grab key loot and get to the extraction point within 90 seconds.

With the right loadout, tactics, and skill – you‘ll master not just this mission, but many challenging operations for Laswell in the future.

Good luck out there, operator! We‘ll be in touch with your next assignment soon. Laswell and I know we can count on you.

Unlocking Rewards by Completing Laswell‘s Missions

Each of Laswell‘s missions you complete will build reputation with the US faction, unlocking powerful new weapons and gear.

Here are some of the rewards you can expect by finishing radio tower uploads and other tasks for Laswell:

  • Squadmate Ed Mason – Skilled AI teammate who fights alongside you
  • Explosive Drone – Call in a drone strike to decimate enemies
  • M13B Assault Rifle – Fully auto high-caliber rifle effective at range
  • "False Pretense" LMG – Light machine gun with a huge 150 round magazine
  • Fennec 45 SMG Blueprint – " venous" variant with purple tracer rounds
  • Weapon XP Boosts – Increase weapon and profile XP gains for a match

In addition, Laswell will begin trusting you with extremely sensitive missions involving high-value enemy targets and intel. Completing these covert ops are the only way to unlock some of the most powerful contraband weapons offered in DMZ.

I hope this guide has prepared you to find Laswell‘s letter and complete his radio tower upload task with flying colors. This is just the first step in building a reputation as an elite DMZ operative. Stay sharp out there, and I‘ll see you in Al Mazrah!
