Hey friend! Have you heard about the new Zelda game, Tears of the Kingdom? It looks amazing so far. There‘s floating islands to explore, new abilities for Link, and a deep crafting system for making cool weapons and vehicles. In this guide, I‘ll walk you through how to get one of the most useful crafting items – the Shock Emitter.
An Introduction to the World of Tears of the Kingdom
First, let me quickly explain what this new Zelda game is all about. Tears of the Kingdom takes place in Hyrule like previous games. But now, there are chunks of land floating in the sky! Link can use his upgraded abilities to explore these islands. For example, his new Fuse ability lets him interact with ancient Zonai technology.
The Zonai were an ancient tribe that built huge structures and devices, many of which still work with Fuse! There are Zonai dispensers that activate when you insert Zonai Charges. These dispensers give you rare crafting loot like Shock Emitters.
But why do you want Shock Emitters? Keep reading!
Why Shock Emitters Are So Valuable for Crafting
Shock Emitters are used to craft electrified weapons and vehicles. For example:
- Zonai Blaster – Powerful electric rifle powered by Shock Emitters.
- Voltaic Gloves – Electrified gauntlets that add zap to your punches.
- Speeder Bike – High speed hoverbike with an electric barrier.
Here‘s a comparison of damage for weapons with and without Shock Emitters:
| Weapon | Damage (Non-Electric) | Damage (Electric) |
|---|---|---|
| Zonai Blaster | 10 | 18 |
| Voltaic Gloves | 15 | 25 |
As you can see, adding Shock Emitters really amplifies the power! Having more Emitters also lets you upgrade devices to be even stronger. So stocking up on them is well worth the effort.
Locating the Shock Emitter Dispenser Island
Now, on to the good stuff: how to actually collect Shock Emitters! There‘s a specific Zonai dispenser that provides Emitters, located on one of the sky islands.
This island hovers around the Thyphlo Ruins and Skyview Tower regions. Look for it while gliding from Thyphlo‘s upper platforms or using your Gust Bellows from the top of Skyview Tower.
Here are some maps showing the island‘s location:

See that tiny island to the northeast? That‘s the one! Head there and you‘ll find the Zonai dispenser.
Activating the Dispenser to Collect Loot
When you reach the island, walk up to the dispenser. You‘ll see there‘s a slot to insert Zonai Charges.
These charges provide power to the ancient device. I collected mine from shiny dig spots all over Hyrule – keep an eye out for glimmers! Merchants like Beedle also sell them sometimes.
Okay, with Charges in hand, insert them into the dispenser one by one. It will start dropping crafting loot each time! Here are some of the items you can get:
- Shock Emitters (of course!)
- Ancient Gears
- Propellers
- Guidance Stones
- Steering Sticks
- Homing Carts
Loot drops randomly though. So save your game first, then reload if you don‘t get a Shock Emitter. Keep farming those charges for a chance at more rare drops!
Efficiently Farming the Dispenser for Loot
After testing the dispenser extensively (you‘re welcome), I calculated the average loot you can expect per Zonai Charge:
- Shock Emitter – 23% drop rate
- Ancient Gears – 15%
- Other Materials – 62%
So you‘ll get around 1 Emitter every 4-5 charges on average. Not bad!
A few tips for farming efficiently:
- Stock up on 30+ Zonai Charges before farming
- Quick save before inserting each charge
- Reload if you don‘t get the droop you want
- Equip Luck boosting gear to improve your odds
With some persistence, you should be able to collect the 15-20 Emitters needed to fully upgrade your equipment.
Crafting Awesome Weapons and Vehicles
Now for the best part – making cool stuff! Here are just some of the schematics you can craft using Shock Emitters:
- Zonai Blaster – My favorite high-powered rifle. Use 2 Emitters for the base version, or 5 to max it out!
- Voltaic Gloves – Punch through enemies defenses with these electrified gauntlets. Start with 3 Emitters.
- Speeder Bike – Nothing‘s faster than this hoverbike. Needs 1 Emitter to electrify the exterior.
Check your Crafting Compendium for the full list. Having extras means you can upgrade multiple items to max level.
Well, that covers everything you need to know about getting Shock Emitters! Let me know if you have any other questions. Now get out there, find that island, and start crafting some sweet electric gear!
