Before we dive into conquering this tricky quest, let me give you a quick primer on Honkai Star Rail for some context. This epic space opera RPG takes place in the same universe as miHoYo‘s beloved Genshin Impact. It‘s got gorgeous anime visuals, an emotional story spanning the cosmos, and addictive action-combat that‘s a blast to master.
In the game, you play as protagonists like Danheng, Vanessa and Frigg while meeting characters new and old. You‘ll explore exotic alien planets, trippy virtual worlds, and mysterious artificial moons as you unlock deeper secrets that threaten the universe. There‘s high production values across thrilling cutscenes, detailed characters, and a heavenly soundtrack.
Now let‘s get to the task at hand – conquering Signs of Fragmentum on Challenge Difficulty 2!
What Makes This Quest So Tough?
Once you reach the Orbital Outpost area after departing the space train, you‘ll get this quest automatically from an investigator named Otto. He needs you to gather data on 5 creatures called Wubbaboos lurking around the zone‘s storage area.
Here‘s the thing – on higher difficulties, the enemies patrolling this area hit like a truck! Their attacks dish out some massive damage. One mistake and even your beefiest character could get one-shot.
The Wubbaboos themselves are hidden amongst some tricky platforming too. And after finding each one, you need to return to Otto to submit the data you‘ve gathered.
So in summary, here‘s what makes Signs of Fragmentum Difficulty 2 such a headache:
- Menacing enemies that deal crazy damage
- Wubbaboos in hard-to-reach spots
- Lots of running back and forth across the zone
But don‘t worry! Follow the strategies I lay out below, and you‘ll get through this troublesome quest unscathed. Let‘s overcome this challenge together!
Choosing the Right Party Members
The hardest part of Signs of Fragmentum Difficulty 2 is surviving the beefed up enemies. You‘ll want to bring characters that can counter them strategically.
Here are the party members I recommend based on playtesting this quest over and over:
Main DPS – Frigg
Frigg is one of the best main damage dealers currently available. Her bow attacks from afar while her ice powers can freeze enemies in place. This gives you breathing room to take out dangerous foes safely.
Sub DPS – Ruby
For secondary damage, Ruby and her scythe are terrific. She can slash down groups of enemies with her area-of-effect attacks. Having two sources of elemental damage (ice + fire) allows you more reaction options too.
Support – Zero
As a sword-wielding support, Zero offers healing and defensive buffs through his abilities. This keeps your party alive through the quest‘s most intense battles.
Flex Pick – Cobalt-B
I like to run an Anemo flex pick in this fourth slot for Swirl reactions. Cobalt-B‘s drone provides additional firepower while spreading elements like a breeze.
Here are the key strengths of this comp:
-
Ranged damage – Bow and catalyst users excel here. Melee is too dangerous.
-
Healing and shields – Essential survival tools.
-
Elemental reactions – Crowd control and big damage from Freeze, Melt, Vaporize, etc.
You can substitute in other characters, but I‘d recommend sticking to this framework to master Difficulty 2.
Leveling Up Your Gear
Besides team composition, having the right gear makes all the difference. Make sure to level up your weapons, artifacts, chips, and other equipment.
Aim to have your main DPS (Frigg for example) at the same level as the quest. So for Difficulty 2, get Frigg‘s gear to at least level 20.
Prioritize attack buffing gear like:
- Weapons that boost ATK
- Artifacts that give +ATK as set bonuses
- Chips that provide ATK or crit rate/damage
Also invest in gear that improves defense and HP to survive enemy attacks. My goal is to have at least 8k HP on my characters before attempting this quest on Difficulty 2.
Here are the types of gear that helps them tank hits:
- Artifacts with +HP or +DEF
- Weapons with +DEF substats
- Chips that give +HP or healing
Leveling your equipment takes some grinding, but it makes winning much more plausible!
Helpful Consumables for Getting By
Don‘t forget about consumable items! They provide temporary buffs that could save your skin.
Food dishes are easy to craft and offer Attack, Defense, Crit or other bonuses. Eat some Fried Radish Balls for +20% ATK before attempting the quest!
Potions like the Impact or Courage Elixirs also give an edge. Healing potions will help keep your HP topped off too.
And if you‘re really struggling, revival items like the Strawberry Daifuku can let you resurrect after death without restarting. Handy when you just need one more try at a tough section.
So don‘t neglect the power of consumables! They make achieving victory way more feasible.
Step-by-Step Walkthrough to Find All the Wubbaboos
Now that you‘ve assembled the right party and geared up, let‘s get into the step-by-step guide for tracking down all the sneaky Wubbaboos.
As a reminder, you need to locate 5 of them around the storage zone. Interacting with each one will provide Otto with the data he needs for his investigation into these mysterious creatures.
Here are all of their exact locations along with tips for reaching them safely:
Wubbaboo #1
Right when you enter the storage zone, look below the main central platform. You‘ll see the first Wubbaboo hovering underneath along the edge.
- Use the Wubbaboo Detector gadget to highlight it
- Hop down and interact quickly before enemies swarm you
Wubbaboo #2
For the next one, head left from the platform past some crates until you see a small room.
The second Wubbaboo is inside here behind one of the plants and a bench.
- Check behind the plant and furniture to locate it
- Scan it before leaving the room
Wubbaboo #3
This third Wubbaboo is across from the Unearthly Marvel puzzle.
Facing the puzzle, look left to spot the Wubbaboo floating near a wall.
- You‘ll likely need to battle some enemies on the way
- Utilize the detector when you get close to ID the Wubbaboo
Wubbaboo #4
The fourth Wubbaboo is in the southwestern pipes area. Climb up the tallest pipe to find it.
- Defeat the enemies down below first
- Then carefully platform up the pipes to reach it at the top
Wubbaboo #5
For the last one, head to the southeast room. Look up at the ceiling atop the "exit" door and you‘ll see it.
- Jump up from the door and interact to scan it
- Grab the final data!
Got all that? With the locations for each Wubbaboo, you can methodically work through gathering the data for Otto.
The only thing left is returning to Otto to submit the data and complete the quest.
Turning in the Data and Collecting Your Rewards
Once you‘ve scanned all 5 of the Wubbaboos throughout the storage zone, it‘s time to head back to Otto and finish the quest.
Retrace your steps to the starting point where Otto is waiting. Talk to him and select the option to give him the data.
After the cutscene, Signs of Fragmentum Difficulty 2 will be complete!
As a reward for conquering this tricky quest on the harder difficulty, you‘ll get a juicy loot haul including:
- 522 EXP
- 330 Coins
- 12 Vitality Canisters
- 5 Transmutation Reagents
- 3 Summon Programs
- 3-star Radiant Pendant weapon
With all these upgrades, you‘ll kickstart your progression and be ready to take on even more dangerous threats across the cosmos!
