Hey there tech geek! Some fascinating updates from the world of cloud computing and gaming for us to unpack today. Let‘s get into the details on Snowflake snapping up Neeva and Google Play Games coming to desktops.
Snowflake‘s Purchase of Neeva: An AI Power-Up
Snowflake is already a dominant force in the cloud data warehousing market. As per IDC, Snowflake holds over 50% market share in this space, ahead of competitors like AWS, Microsoft, Google and more. And they continue their meteoric rise with revenues growing 116% year-over-year!
| Year | Revenue (in millions) |
|---|---|
| 2019 | $97 |
| 2020 | $264 |
| 2021 | $592 |
| 2022 | $1,219 |
But Snowflake is now looking to augment their capabilities even further with the strategic purchase of Neeva.

Neeva was founded by ex-Google execs Sridhar Ramaswamy and Vivek Raghunathan in 2019, and has since raised over $77M in funding. Their expertise lies in leveraging AI and ML to enable more powerful, intuitive search experiences.
So how does Neeva‘s tech stack up with Snowflake‘s offerings? Well, Snowflake has established itself as a leader in managing and analyzing large volumes of structured and unstructured data. But the addition of Neeva can unlock more value from all that data through next-gen, conversational search capabilities.
Imagine being able to query your enterprise data in Snowflake using natural language! Neeva‘s AI techniques like semantic search and entity recognition can enable this. Users can find insights and patterns in data more efficiently.
As an industry analyst noted on the acquisition:
"By leveraging Neeva‘s technology, Snowflake customers will be empowered to harness all their data to drive meaningful business outcomes and gain a competitive edge."
In my view, this acquisition is a smart move to enhance Snowflake‘s capabilities. Together, they can offer users the full package – scalable data infrastructure from Snowflake and intelligent exploration powered by Neeva.
This also fits into the larger trend of AI augmenting cloud platforms. We‘re seeing tools like Azure Cognitive Search and AWS Kendra also tackling this space. But Snowflake is making a big bet on Neeva and clearly sees them as leaders in intelligent search.
Exciting times ahead as AI continues elevating cloud computing! Now let‘s shift gears and see how Google is reinventing mobile gaming.
Google Play Games: My Android Favorites on PC
I don‘t know about you, but I love playing mobile games in my spare time. Title like Genshin Impact, Call of Duty Mobile, and Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) are some of my favorites. But I‘m super psyched to now enjoy them on a bigger screen with Google Play Games for PC!
Google Play Games just launched in several European countries, allowing Windows users to play Android games they own on PCs. This opens up mobile gaming to over 20 million potential new users in the region.
The main appeal for me is being able to play these games with mouse and keyboard controls. No more fiddly touch controls – I can finely tune settings and remap keys for an optimal experience. And games like Asphalt 9 even have expanded PC versions with better, more immersive graphics.
Some key advantages I‘m looking forward to:
- Progress syncing across devices so I can switch seamlessly between phone and PC
- Mapping touch controls to keys, mouse for more precise input
- Tweaking graphics settings for higher fidelity and frame rates
- Playing on my big monitor for more immersion
- Earning Google Play Points for in-app purchases
The only catch is that Google Play Games is only available on Windows, not macOS. But I‘m sure Google will expand regional and platform availability over time.
They‘ve opened up a whole new avenue for enjoying mobile games by bringing them to PCs. I for one am excited to re-experience my Android favorites on a desktop setup!
