Uncovering Hidden Treasure: How to Find and Open the Tricky Stables Chest in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

Hey friend, have you started your adventure in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor yet? If so, you know firsthand how exciting it is to step back into the boots of Jedi Cal Kestis five years after the events of Fallen Order. The galaxy is still reeling from the Empire‘s oppression, but a few brave heroes like Cal are doing their part to keep hope alive.

In Survivor, Cal‘s going to need all the help he can get against the new threats he faces. One way you can support him on his quest is by seeking out hidden loot chests scattered across the planets. These chests provide rare crafting materials to build new equipment and upgrades for Cal and his companions.

Today, I want to share how to track down one particularly tricky chest hidden inside a small stable early in the game. With some clever platforming and use of your powers, you can nab the unique loot inside. Let‘s dig into the secrets of unlocking the Stables Chest in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor!

Why Hidden Chests Matter in Star Wars

Before we get into the step-by-step guide, I want to talk big picture about why tracking down hidden loot is so iconic to Star Wars. Finding hidden treasures connects us to beloved characters like Han Solo and Indiana Jones. The Star Wars galaxy is positively sprawling with lost artifacts, secret vaults, and valuable resources just waiting to be recovered by bold explorers.

As a Jedi, collecting lost Jedi and Sith relics is critical to restoring your Order‘s history. Holocrons containing teachings of the Force remain hidden across the cosmos. And with resources scarce under Imperial rule, hidden chests can provide rare crafting materials and credits to aid the Rebellion.

In an interview with Cinelinx, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor director Stig Asmussen explained this focus on scavenging and treasure hunting:

"We really wanted to double down on the fantasy of becoming a Jedi and having that wayfaring, samurai-like experience as you‘re exploring the galaxy. We expanded the traversal and made the planets larger with more to discover."

So when you spot a suspicious nook, hidden path, or tempting ledge just off the main trail, your Jedi intuition should tingle with possibility. Indulge your curiosity, and the Force may lead you to great fortune.

Inside the Stables Chest

Not long after Cal gains the ability to explore new planets, you‘ll come across a small settlement with some riding animals called Nekkos. This mount gives Cal increased speed and mobility to cover ground quickly. Near a wooden stable structure, you can spot a chest that seems just out of reach on the roof. But with clever use of your new Nekko and Cal‘s powers, you can traverse your way to the prize inside.

Within the Stables Chest you‘ll find Unique Metal, a rare material used specifically for modifying Cal‘s companion droid, BD-1. This loyal droid sticks with Cal through all his adventures, providing medical stims, computer slicing abilities, and more. Upgrading BD-1 benefits Cal directly, so the hard-to-find metal is worth unlocking the chest for.

In total, the Stables Chest provides 15 pieces of Unique Metal upon opening. This is enough to craft a new BD-1 emote such as the Thumbs Up or Play Dead expressions. Given BD-1‘s cute personality that brings much-needed levity to Cal‘s grim adventures, any chance to expand the droid‘s emotional range is welcome.

Step-by-Step Guide to Unlocking the Chest

Alright, let‘s get into the nitty gritty of how to ride your Nekko over to the stable, traverse onto the roof, and claim the treasure inside:

Step 1) Ride a Nekko to the Front of the Stable

Once you‘ve unlocked the ability to ride Nekkos, locate one nearby and press the prompted button to mount it. Ride over to the small stable structure nestled against a rocky wall. Stop when you reach the front of the stable.

Tip: You can find Nekkos roaming around the nearby forests. Use Cal‘s Force Sense ability to highlight interactable creatures and objects to find them more easily.

Step 2) Jump from the Nekko onto the Roof

With Cal seated on the Nekko in front of the stable, make the Nekko jump into the air by pressing the prompted button. As the Nekko jumps upward, quickly press the button to leap off and land Cal safely on the slanted roof above.

Tip: Time this jump carefully! If you leap too early, Cal may hit the side of the stable rather than landing on top.

Step 3) Use Force Lift to Open the Trapdoor

Now standing atop the roof, look downward to spot the trapdoor built into the ceiling. Use Cal‘s Force Lift ability to grab and open the door, exposing the interior of the stable.

Tip: If you haven‘t unlocked Force Lift yet, come back to this stable later in the story when Cal has learned new abilities.

Step 4) Drop Down and Open the Chest

With the trapdoor open, carefully drop down into the stable‘s interior. You‘ll see the chest tucked away in the corner. Approach it and press the prompted button to pry open the lid using Cal‘s lightsaber.

Ta-da! Unique Metal is yours for the taking! BD-1 will be happy for the upgrade materials.

And that‘s it! With some clever platforming and smooth use of your new Nekko mount, you can access the hidden Stables Chest early in Jedi: Survivor.

Comparison to Jedi: Fallen Order

Jedi: Survivor builds on the foundation of 2019‘s Fallen Order, keeping what worked while expanding the experience. Here‘s a quick comparison of some key features across both games:

Jedi: Fallen Order Jedi: Survivor
Release Year 2019 2023
Platforms PS4, Xbox One, PC PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC
Setting 5 years after Revenge of the Sith 5 years after Fallen Order
Planets Bogano, Zeffo, Kashyyyk, Dathomir, Ilum Koboh, Eyforia, Numenor, Quab, Aurora
Powers Force Push, Pull, Freeze, Slow New Force Flurry and Saber Throw

While the core combat and traversal gameplay remains similar, the new settings, abilities, and greater emphasis on scavenging show the logical evolution of Cal‘s saga.

More Hidden Chests to Find

The Stables Chest is just one example of the many cleverly hidden treasures awaiting discovery across Survivor‘s planets. Here are a few other tricky chests to keep an eye out for:

  • The Sunken Chest – At the bottom of a flooded sinkhole area, use Force Push underwater to expose this chest.

  • The Vines Chest – Slice through vine-covered walls in a ruined structure to reveal a chest tucked away inside.

  • The Breakable Wall Chest – Use Force Push on cracked walls to break through and find chests sealed behind them.

Half the fun is exploring every nook and cranny until you stumble upon one of these secret stashes. Share tips and locations with friends to help each other collect everything!

Final Tips for Treasure Hunting

I‘ll leave you with some final tips for seeking out those hidden treasures in Jedi: Survivor:

  • Climb to high vantage points and really scope out the terrain – you never know what gaps or ledges might lead to secret chests!

  • If something looks even slightly out of place, try interacting with it. Could be a decoy obscuring a chest.

  • Listen closely for audio cues like tinkling noises or droid beeps which may hint at hidden areas.

  • Revisit previous planets later when Cal has new powers that may unlock access to unreachable spots.

  • Check maps and data logs for subtle clues pointing to potential chest locations.

  • Above all, indulge your curiosity and leave no stone unturned! You never know what you‘ll find.

Part of the magic of Star Wars is exploring the unknown and making exciting discoveries. I hope this guide gives you the knowledge and motivation to track down the Stables Chest and many more hidden treasures in Jedi: Survivor. Let me know if you have any other tips to share! May the Force be with you, always.
