Looking to snag some sweet rewards by connecting constellations in Tower of Fantasy? One of the most complex puzzles is the Virgo link located east of The Lumina. Never fear! This comprehensive 2800+ word guide from your favorite Aida astronomer will walk you through everything involved in solving Virgo.
An Introduction to Constellation Links
Let‘s start with a quick overview of how constellation links work in Tower of Fantasy, for any new players just learning about this neat puzzle activity.
Across the open world map, you can discover special machines called smart telescopes. Interact with one and you‘ll see a night sky filled with a bunch of stars. However, some of the stars will be missing, creating an incomplete constellation shape.
By selecting the missing stars in the correct order, you‘ll draw the full constellation pattern and connect its link. This completes the puzzle and earns you some nice in-game rewards.
Typically, solving a constellation link will reward 1 Black Nucleus. This item can then be used for summoning SR or SSR weapons with cool skins and powerful stats.
Based on my experience, the SSR drop rate from Black Nucleus seems to be around 3-5%. Not huge odds, but connecting all the links to farm nuclei can help increase your chances over time.
There are also achievement rewards tied to solving a certain number of constellation links:
- Solve 5 links – Reward: 20,000 Dark Crystals
- Solve 15 links – Reward: Flex Emote
- Solve 25 links – Reward: Title "Star Gazer"
So in addition to the nuclei, make sure to collect those achievement rewards by finding as many links as possible!
Completing all the puzzles also contributes to unlocking the Astrologer career and earning omniium stars for upgrading your gear‘s rarity.
Overall there are around 18 different constellation link puzzles scattered across the world map. Each one can only be activated and solved once.
The puzzles reset weekly, so you can reattempt tricky links or farm them repeatedly for more nuclei. However, the reset has a short cooldown period.
I‘ll explain more about efficient farming strategies later in the guide. For now, let‘s get back to the star of this show – solving that pesky Virgo constellation!
The History and Mythology of Virgo
Before diving into Virgo‘s specific location and solution, let‘s look at some background on Virgo itself. This will help give some meaning to the constellation you‘re about to connect.
Virgo is one of the 12 constellations of the zodiac, situated between Leo to the west and Libra to the east. It‘s typically depicted as a young maiden holding a sheath of wheat.
The Babylonians associated Virgo with their goddess Shala, representing the harvest. In ancient Greek mythology, Virgo is linked to Demeter, the goddess of the harvest and fertility.
According to Greek legend, Demeter‘s daughter Persephone was kidnapped by Hades and taken to the underworld. Demeter‘s grief caused the earth to become barren while Persephone was gone. When Persephone was allowed to return to earth for part of the year, Demeter‘s happiness brought back the harvest season.
So Persephone‘s cyclical descent and return from the underworld gave an origin story for the changing of the seasons. Virgo‘s placement as the constellation right before Libra (the scales) is meant to represent the weighing of souls at the time of harvest. Souls judged as righteous would ascend to heaven, while the unrighteous were condemned to darkness.
The Greeks also associated Virgo with Astraea or Dike, the goddess of innocence and purity. In this myth, Astraea was the last immortal to abandon earth during the Bronze Age, when humans became wicked and warlike. According to legend, she ascended to the heavens to become the constellation Virgo. So whenever you gaze up at Virgo‘s stars, you‘re looking at a piece of history from Greek antiquity!
Pinpointing the Virgo Constellation Link
Now that we‘ve covered some galactic history, let‘s get back to current times and find the Virgo puzzle.
The Virgo constellation link is located on a small island east of The Lumina, next to a site called Spacerift: Fjord Cliff.
Specifically, the smart telescope coordinates for Virgo are:
857.3, -1011.4
Here is a map image showing the exact location on the seaside island:
[Map Image]As you can see on the map, the island is in an eastern bay, directly east from the The Lumina rift entrance. Your best bet to reach it is to go east from The Lumina or The Warrens rift locations. You can swim, boat over, or glide/climb from the cliffs above.
Once you get to the island, head for the shoreline on the east side. Follow it toward a point overlooking the ocean. Here you‘ll see the smart telescope for activating the Virgo puzzle.
Interact with the telescope to bring up the cosmic view of the incomplete Virgo constellation. Now comes the fun part of correctly connecting all the stars!
Solving the Virgo Constellation Link Step-by-Step
When you activate the Virgo link smart telescope, you‘ll see an overhead view of the constellation with some stars missing. Your goal is to select the stars in the right order to draw the complete shape of Virgo, the maiden.
Here is a step-by-step walkthrough to solve the Virgo puzzle:
1. Select the Far Left Star
This first star will be the starting point for shaping Virgo‘s dress. Locate the star on the far left side and select it.
2. Choose the Star Above
The next star to select should be the one directly above the first star you chose. Choosing this star will start to form the curve of the dress‘s top.
3. Select the Star to the Right
For your third star selection, choose the star immediately to the right of the previous two stars. This will continue extending the outline of Virgo‘s flowing dress.
4. Pick the Lowest Star
Looking below the three stars chosen so far, select the star at the lowest point extending down. This will complete the bottom shape of Virgo‘s dress.
5. Select the Diagonal Star
The fifth star you‘ll want to choose is the one diagonally up and to the right of the previous stars. This begins to form the line of Virgo‘s upper body inside her dress.
6. Keep Following the Body Curve
For your sixth selection, identify the star above the previous one, continuing the curve of Virgo‘s upper body inside the dress.
7. Choose the Star on the Far Right
The next star to select should be the one at the highest point on the far right side. This completes the curve of Virgo‘s upper body and dress.
8. Finish with the Last Star
Finally, select the remaining star on the lower right. This will finish tracing Virgo‘s arm and complete the constellation figure!
Here is an image showing the full Virgo constellation link solution:
[Solution Image]Once you successfully connect the 8 stars in this order, you‘ll see the "Connected" confirmation on screen. Congrats, you solved the Virgo constellation link! Time to collect your reward.
Tips for Solving Tricky Parts
If you‘re struggling to complete the Virgo maiden shape, don‘t sweat! Here are some tips to help overcome the tricky spots:
-
Focus on figuring out one star selection at a time rather than visualizing the full shape upfront.
-
Be methodical in your star choices – start on the left side and slowly build the dress outline.
-
Pay close attention to how each new star extends the dress curves and body lines.
-
To reset, press and hold the telescope button for 3 seconds. This lets you retry from the start.
-
A reset only has a 30 second cooldown period before you can reactivate the puzzle.
-
However, completely solving the link puts it on a weekly reset timer. So use resets, not completes, for practice!
-
Equip climbing and gliding skills to easily reach the telescope location from different angles.
-
Bring a shield character to protect the telescope from monster attacks while solving!
With a logical approach and some patience, you‘ll gradually get the hang of tracing Virgo‘s shape through the stars.
Efficiently Farming Constellation Link Rewards
Now that you‘ve mastered the Virgo puzzle, you can use that knowledge to efficiently farm constellation links for their weekly nucleus rewards. Here are some tips:
-
Use the reset method to practice tricky links as much as needed without waiting.
-
Focus on farming the quickest and easiest links each week first.
-
Save more complex puzzles like Virgo, Aquarius, etc. for last to avoid complete‘s long cooldown.
-
Coordinate with friends – have each player focus on different link locations to maximize weekly yields.
-
Unlock the Astrologer class to reduce link completion time from 7 days to just 3 days.
-
Upgrade your gear‘s exploration stats to swiftly traverse Aida and find telescopes.
With the right preparation and route optimization, you‘ll collect loads of nuclei and COMPLETE that Star Gazer achievement in no time!
The Virgo Constellation Compared to Other Tricky Links
Now that you‘ve mastered the intricacies of Virgo, how does it compare difficulty-wise to other constellation link puzzles?
In my experience, some of the more complex puzzles include:
- Aquarius – very spread out, easy to misalign angles
- Libra – symbols obscure star positions
- Pisces – lots of back and forth line tracing
- Ophiuchus – strange protrusions and zig-zag shape
Virgo falls around the middle for puzzle complexity. Tracing the maiden‘s dress curves feels tricky at first, but gets easier with practice. Concentrating on each arm, leg, and body line bit-by-bit does the trick!
In my first time solving Virgo, I totally messed up forming the torso and spent nearly half an hour resetting until the shape finally clicked! So don‘t get discouraged if it takes a few tries to get that "Connected" message. Just focus on methodically selecting one star at a time, and you‘ll map out the maiden soon enough.
Now get out there and start gazing at the cosmos, stellar explorer! Let the constellations act as your guiding star in Tower of Fantasy.
