How to Do Your Weight in Gold in World of Warcraft: Dragonflight

Earning gold is more rewarding than ever in the lands of the Dragon Isles. With new systems, zones, dungeons and crafting opportunities introduced in the Dragonflight expansion, players have ample ways to build their fortunes. This guide will walk you through one of the earliest hidden gold challenges – "Your Weight in Gold" – and provide tips for amassing even more gold through professions, quests, and more.

An Introduction to Making Gold in Dragonflight

With a new level cap to reach and powerful new gear to acquire, gold is as valuable as ever in Dragonflight. Here‘s a quick overview of why you‘ll want plenty of coin and how the expansion enables players to get it:

  • New mounts, pets, transmogs, recipes, and Isle-themed cosmetics to purchase from vendors.
  • Crafting high-level armor, weapons, consumables via the new Profession system.
  • Bonus loot rolls on raid bosses and dungeon chests.
  • Funding expensive gem sockets and gear augment rune upgrades.
  • Supplying raid consumables like feasts, flasks, and potions.

Fortunately, the Dragon Isles offer abundant opportunities to farm, craft, and quest your way to fortunes. Let‘s start by tackling an early hidden challenge…

"Your Weight in Gold" – Hidden Gold Challenge

This hidden challenge takes place deep in the Zaralek Cavern, an ominous cave illuminated by faint blue flames. Here‘s how to complete it and score a big payout:

Step 1) Speak with Myrrit Outside the Cavern

Myrrit is a quirky NPC who offers access to the Burrow ability, enabling you to dig and reach new areas of the cavern. Interact with Myrrit and gain the Burrow buff.

Step 2) Burrow Into the Cavern

Head down the ramp and look for a shimmering area right where the wall begins on your left. Activate Burrow when the "Dig" ability lights up, then walk forward through the wall.

Step 3) Summon and Defeat the Buried Wealth Rare

You‘ll emerge in an area with four gold piles. Approach them until you can activate "Dig" again. This will summon a rare mob called Buried Wealth. Defeat it to spawn Weighty Gold orbs.

Step 4) Activate the Four Pressure Plates

There are four pressure plates around this room. Lure Buried Wealth over each plate – it will sweep coins onto the plate with its Coin Sweep ability. This in turn spawns a Weighty Gold orb that must be stood on to activate the plate.

Activate all four plates and the nearby door will open.

Step 5) Loot the Treasure

Head through the now-open door to find a clickable Bag of Secrets. Looting this completes the challenge, earning you some gold and a tablet starting the Ouroboros reputation.

And just like that, you‘ve earned your weight in gold in Dragonflight! But this is just the beginning…

Making Gold Through Dragonflight Professions

Dragonflight introduces new recipes for every profession, including impactful high-level armor and weapons. Here are some tips for profiting as a crafter:

  • Harvest rare crafting materials from herbalism, mining, and skinning nodes in the Dragon Isles.
  • Learn recipes for item level 630-640 armor and weapons that raiders will pay well for.
  • Craft the new 30-slot bag and sell them to players expanding their inventory.
  • Sell weapon oils, armor kits, and spell scrolls for temporary buffs.
  • Take the new Dragonriding profession to craft mounts and sell them on the auction house.

Studying the auction house frequently is key – identify which items are in high demand and limited supply. Crafting those goods can result in huge payouts.

Maximize Gold Gains From Daily Activities

Simply playing the game actively each day presents many opportunities to stock up on gold:

  • World Quests – Prioritize quests offering gold, crafting reagents, and gear to disenchant or sell.
  • Daily Profession Cooldowns – These can generate rare crafting materials to sell.
  • Mission Table – Send followers on gold-rewarding missions.
  • Tazavesh Dungeon – Queue daily and sell any special augment runes or loot drops.
  • Island Expeditions – Win these scenarios and open the reward caches to get items, and useful trade goods.

Setting aside time each play session to complete world quests, check the mission table, and run Tazavesh goes a long way towards building up your gold reserves.

Where To Spend Your Hard-Earned Gold

So you‘ve got piles of gold – now what? Here are some of the best gold sinks introduced in Dragonflight:

  • Dragonriding Parts – Unlocking customizations and color options for your mounts.
  • Profession Recipes – Such as new armor sets, potions, and enchantments.
  • Reputation Vendors – Unique tabards, mounts, transmog gear, and recipes.
  • Auction House – Sniping special rare items posted for low bids.
  • Raid Supplies – Flasks, potions, food to use and share with your raid team.

With so many gold-draining opportunities, it pays to be farming and earning proactively each day. Follow the tips and strategies outlined above, and you‘ll have more than your fair weight in gold in no time!
