The ancient ruins hidden across Sumeru were built long ago by the Scarlet King‘s civilization. They served important purposes tied to controlling elements and the ley lines. Now, only puzzles and erosion remain.
To move further inside, you need to unlock two Primal Embers, absorb their energy, and guide them into ancient structures to remove the central lock. This grants access to the inner sanctum with elite enemies and precious loot.
By exploring these depths, you can complete Cyno‘s Story Quest, unlock the Garden of Endless Pillars domain, discover secret rooms, fight bosses, and claim some of Sumeru‘s most powerful weapons and artifacts. There is so much hidden history to uncover!
Now, let‘s get into the step-by-step of solving the primal lock puzzle:
Step 1 – Locating and Unlocking the First Primal Ember
The first Primal Ember you need to find is sealed behind several rotating cell puzzles to the north. Here‘s how to reach it:

Head north from the teleport waypoint and you‘ll see two large cubic cells on the walls.

Rotate each cell so their open sides face inward towards the closed stone door. This will unlock it.

Pass through the unlocked door and head to the quest marker. There is a Forged Primal Light on a pedestal here. Pick it up.

Move to the nearby replicator keystone on the floor. This will conjure the Primal Ember for absorption!
Now carry the Primal Ember south to the Opet Hall. You‘ll need to guide it into the structure on the right side. Once it gets close, it will automatically float and lock into place.
With the cutscene, the first half of the giant central door will now be unlocked! Next comes the second Primal Ember.
Step 2 – Overcoming Barriers to Reach the Second Primal Ember
The second Primal Ember you need is contained behind some troublesome barriers to the southeast. Here‘s how to break through:

Head to the quest marker and you‘ll see the Ember shielded by a red forcefield. For now, leave it be.

Pick up the Forged Primal Light from the nearby pedestal instead. Carry it west.

Rotate the large cubic cell on the western wall so its opening faces east towards the door. The door will now be unlocked.

Go through this door and grab the other Forged Primal Light inside.

With that Light, step on the replicator keystone in this room. It will rotate the cell, dissipating the red forcefield around the Primal Ember!

Return to the Ember, absorb it into the Forged Primal Light, and guide it north to the Opet Hall‘s left structure. Another cutscene will play as it locks into place.
With both Primal Locks powered up, the central door opens! You‘ve cracked the seal and can now enter the inner sanctum.
Navigating Inner Complexities and Claiming Hidden Treasures
Much awaits you inside the now-opened central door. Be prepared for challenging enemies like the Eremite Deals-in-Death and Ruin Drakes. Traps and puzzles also abound.

Stay vigilant for secret rooms and investigate each corner. Use a pyro character to light braziers and reveal mystical writings on the walls. Seek out treasure coffers and remarkable chests tucked away in hidden nooks.
